Things I Do After A Bad Day

We've all had those moments. Sometimes we know exactly what's put us off to the wrong side of the wrong day. Somethings we just don't. But, either way, I seem to stick to a couple of trusted pick-me ups: Read Something. Go Somewhere. Watch Something. Eat Something. Talk To Someone. What I read, where I go, and all those specific details vary from time to time, and from person to person. Here's my list:

Go: Home.

My bedroom: Since a lot of the bad things that happen occur in school, going home is always a treat for me. I mean, even after a really good time elsewhere, I always has this feeling of longing to go back home and so it makes perfect sense for me to seek refuge here. Seeing the door to my bedroom and opening it to see a little bit of my two favorite photos on display gives me a feeling of joy, peace, and belongingness.

Read: Whenever Im feeling down, thrillers, mysteries, tragedies, and "gotta-think-hard" novels are out of the question. Instead, I enjoy reading light-hearted, and incredibly funny texts that revolve around a simple yet intriguing plot.

Wintertown by Stephen Emond: A feel good book thats more than just your typical teen romance YA novel and at the same time, a little less fantastical and more realistic. This book successfully relies on lovable characters, endearing dialogue, funny comic strips (You heard me right! There a comic strip after every chapter!), and an innovative take on POV. Wintertown in its entirety is an incredibly satisfying read.

Fishbowl by Bradley Somer: To be honest, I bought this one purely based on the cover BUTTT... It is an impeccably written book with just the right eloquence as to make you feel really smart as a reader. Fishbowl revolves around an array of characters that are ALL remarkable as they live their lives in their apartment. With each chapter telling a different experience of a different character, its hard to get bored while reading this novel. Seeing each character's days and personality unfold is an absolute delight.

Comic Strips from the archives of Harkavagrant.com: Perfect for people who don't like reading long texts! The comic strips are perfectly illustrated and deliver clever humor.

Watch: For the past few months Ive been obsessed with a lot of things people would categorize as "guilty pleasure". BUT SERIOUSLY THEYRE HILARIOUS JUST GIVE IT A CHANCE!

Himouto! Umaru Chan: A slice-of-life anime that combines the power of adorable chibi illustrations, wacky friendships, and good old everyday life comedy. I wish I found this relatable because I WANT THIS LIFE.

We Got Married: A korean reality show that puts together 2 korean celebrities in a virtual marriage! Episodes are filled with laughter, the butterflies in your stomach feels, and tempting food.

Eat: Cuz DUUHHHH

Strawberry anything: For some reason strawberry has been ruling my month! It simple, refreshing, and not overwhelming. Ive been loving strawberry jam, ice cream, snacks, but strawberry in milktea has got to be my number 1 choice. Going to a place you have loads of good memories in is a good bonus!

Talk: My sister has always been like a best friend to me and a person I can talk to comfortably about almost anything. Talking to her doesn't necessarily mean we're talking about the horrible horrible day Ive had. Because, sometimes the best way to cheer up from a bad day is to avoid it! It helps if your person is a really talkative one too~

  1. Aww it's heartwarming to know that you do nice things to pick yourself up when you have a bad day, instead of sulking the whole day (which many people do I think XD)! I'm definitely going to check out the books you listed - they sound so interesting :3 Also the anime Himouto! Umaru Chan you mentioned sounds super fun as well ahh. I just googled it and the characters look SO CUTEEE. When I have a bad day, I pretty much do the same things as you, as well as listen to music ^^

  10. Whenever I feel down, I'll crank up the music or watch YOuTube. I have tried reading when I am down but it doesn't work for me because I can't concentrate.

  11. I love the post, and the photos fit in perfectly as well! I always like to watch some videos on YouTube and do some pilates to take my mind off of things. Talking to people is helpful as well, though it seems like most people like texting rather than calling now!

  18. Aww hope you don't have tooo many bad days! However, I'm the same when it comes to things like that in which my first stop is my room. I love just being in there by myself sometimes for some peace and quiet and then find some delicious food to just indulge on. Not too often though haha but it's nice to just chill out and relax every once in awhile!
