Beauty Wars: Daiso v Faceshop Mascara

I know of a lot people who say that mascara would be their must have makeup item. If they had to choose just one makeup item to wear for the day, it would be mascara. Waterproof mascara being the most popular choice. But I've never taken a liking to it since its just too much of an effort to completely take off! But after convincing myself of the fundamentality of a nice mascara in anyone's makeup kit, I went on the hunt for a NON-waterproof mascara thats cheap and effective. Here's two of what Ive been trying out recently:

PRODUCT: Daiso Twin Side Mascara

On Photo: Eyelash Curler + 1 coat of Mascara

Pros:

Super cheap
I got this one for 88 php (less than 2 USD)

Holds the curl for the entire day

Natural looking
can you see how fluttery and soft my eyelashes look?

No clumps

Cons:

Slightly stiff bristles
The bristles are made of plastic and might be a problem for some people

I got teary eyed once and it went down mah face
but since it wasn't waterproof, I wiped it off easily

PRODUCT: Face Shop WI-UP Mascara: Curling Recourbant

On Photo: 2 coats of Mascara (no need to curl your lashes!)

Pros:

Control over how eyelash are curled
As you can see in the photo, I opted for a side swept curl

Thickening

Lengthening

Water Resistant
But product is fairly easy to remove

NO NEED TO CURL YOUR LASHES WITH THE EVIL EYE LASH CURLER

Cons:

Slightly Clumpy

APPLICATION TIP: For all you peeps that are beginners in the mascara world (like me)

Position you mirror below your chin and apply the mascara while looking down
(opening your mouth for dramatic effect is optional)

My Winner?

FACE SHOP!

What's yours?

  3. Amazing review Bea! I havent tried any beauty products in Daiso aside from their eyebrow pencil. It works so well though. As for Faceshop, I havent tried any of their products too but my friend who uses their eye liner told me that works so well.

  4. The Face Shop is definitely better. If I'm buying a mascara, it better make my lashes look thick and luscious! Else, what is the point of mascara? At least for me.

  5. I think I like more the first one because it seems to be more natural on your lashes than the second one. Maybe because I am not a big fan of too much mascara:)

  7. Oh I'm definitely one of those people you describe who think that mascara is an absolute make-up must have haha – hence, I'm not too keen on cheap mascara and once I had found my fave, never tried any others anymore, my favourite is Esteé Lauder but BeYu also makes great mascaras! :)

You have beautiful eyes btw! <3

  9. Your eyes look so pretty in both! :3 The Daiso one is more natural-looking and the FaceShop makes your eyes pop~ Lol I'm like you, one of those girls who doesn't use mascara a lot! I dunno, I've only wore them during special occasions haha. But hey, glad to know I'm not the only one XD

  10. Mascara is a staple product for me! I used to be a swimmer so I had no choice but to wear a waterproof mascara - but now I use non-waterproof and it's much better (and easier to take off) These prdoducts look pretty good! I like the Face Shop one!

  12. I've been trying so many different mascara, from the western drugstore to Korean brands. However, my favorite will always be Maybelline. It's cheap and able to hold the curl on my lashes really well.
